I received a BS in Education (kindergarten through grade 3) in 1973. Although my practicum was in kindergarten and first grade, I was offered a preschool teaching position upon graduation. I quickly fell in love with educating preschoolers. I taught preschool at the Church of Atonement in Westfield until the school closed in 2011. While working there, I received additional in-service training in early childhood education. Teaching preschool was a perfect fit while I was raising my family. I also worked at the Children’s Library here in Westfield leading story hours until I came to CCS in the fall of 2012.
I am married to Wally Footit, and together we have four adult children and six grandsons, with a fourth grandson due in July. I enjoy spending time with family, babysitting my grandsons, reading, walking, and visiting the beach in Ipswich, MA where I grew up and still have family. Wally and I attend the Westfield Evangelical Free Church.
After many years of teaching where God was not part of the curriculum, I am so thankful that God has led me to Community Christian School. These children have truly blessed me with their love for God and their desire to know him. It is wonderful to meet them as four- and five-year-olds and to be able to help them grow both spiritually and academically into the children God wants them to become. I am also spiritually blessed by the staff. It is a joy to be with a group of people who start their days in worship, thanksgiving, and encouragement to each other. CCS is a great place to be.
